Several characteristics of rural life can compound the risk of suicide, including isolation, limited behavioral health services, and the impacts of natural disasters such as wildfires and drought. Yet rural areas are also characterized by strong and tight-knit communities with a willingness to come together in times of trouble. Rural residents are resourceful, know their neighbors and will have each other's backs when they know what to look for and how to help. These rural community resources are meant to celebrate our California rural communities. These resources were developed in support of National Rural Health Day (November 19th, 2020) and to shine light on the strength, resiliency, and power of rural communities, join in celebrating the power of rural with these resources, but can we used throughout the year.
